O My servants! My holy, My divinely ordained Revelation may be likened unto an ocean in whose depths are concealed innumerable pearls of great price, of surpassing luster. It is the duty of every seeker to bestir himself and strive to attain the shores of this ocean, so that he may, in proportion to the eagerness of his search and the efforts he hath exerted, partake of such benefits as have been preordained in God's irrevocable and hidden Tablets. Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 326 (115:2) I can do no more here than to affirm that this ocean does indeed exist, and is available to anyone who wishes to experience and examine it for themselves (115:3) Baha'u'llah's writings cover a vast range of subjects concerning both spiritual and temporal facets of life. A mere list of but some of the themes of His writings suffice to impress upon the open mind the comprehensive scope of His knowledge (115:4) From the transcendence of God to the establishment of peace on earth; from the nature of the soul and life after death to the true meaning of human history and its glorious future; from the necessity and power of prayer to the foundation of divine institutions for the safeguarding of society; from guiding principles for the harmony of religion with science to the proper role of government and the universal education and training of children for civilization to progress - the range of subjects covered in the Baha'i writings is immense and unprecedented, and the subjects themselves are explained with a comprehensive depth and breadth never seen before in human history. Never has so much light been shed upon so many subjects, and never has clearer guidance from God been given regarding them. Guidelines, directions, and fruitful suggestions about human health and nutrition, medicine, agriculture, industrial relations, education, business, the environment, and many other subjects are all set forth and clarified with direct relevance to the spiritual, social and economic welfare of humanity in our time. Baha'u'llah has revealed what constitutes the greatest outpouring of divine revelation the world has ever witnessed. And how could it be otherwise; He has returned in the plentitude of His power (115:5) Unlike the First Coming of Christ, in which only a limited number of His blessed words were recorded, and these words years after they were spoken, Baha'u'llah wrote with His own hand many of His works. Others He dictated, while in prison, to the followers who had accompanied Him. And for all His writings, He Himself, verified their accuracy. Revealed in both Persian and Arabic, due to the sheer extent of His writings, much of them have yet to be translated into other languages. Portions, however, of His writings are now available in some eight hundred languages, with additional translations becoming available every year
