The unity of the Baha'i community has been preserved throughout its century and a half history primarily by two things: a Center of authority to which the believers have turned for guidance, and the adherence to a set of principles which have removed those things which tend to divide people, while at the same time establishing bonds of affection and mutual cooperation between them. Both the Center of authority and the unifying principles have been ordained by Baha'u'llah Himself
