Baha'u'llah is a Descendant of King David (17:2) The Old Testament states that the Messiah will be a descendent of David. Jesus states that He was: (17:3) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the ofespring of David, and the bright and morning star. (rev 22:16) (17:4) see Baha'u'llah also states that He is a descendant of David: How is it that Baha'u'llah, Who was born in Persia, could be a descendant of King David, who was born in Bethlehem and died in Jerusalem? The answer to this question is that after the time of King David, the Jews were exiled eastward, from their home in Israel to the city of Babylon. This fact of history provided the circumstances for the fulfillment of this prophecy. (17:6) Baha'u'llah came from a noble family descended from the last of the Sasanian Kings of ancient Persia. The patriarch of this dynasty was named Sasan. Sasan's father was Cyrus the Great, who is mentioned in the book of Ezra: (17:7) Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. (ezr 1:2) (17:8) see Sasan's mother was a Jewish woman named Rahab. Rahab was the sister of Zorobabel, who is mentioned in both of the genealogies of Jesus that are given in the New Testament. Matthew and Luke state: (17:9) And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias be-gat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel. (mat 1:12) (17:10) see Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri. (luk 3:27) (17:11) see Thus, Cyrus the Great's wife was a descendant of King David of Judah. Baha'u'llah is, therefore, a direct bloodline descendant of David, fulfilling the prophecies that the Messiah will be of the seed of David, son of Jesse. (17:12) And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: (17:13) And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; (17:14) And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: (17:15) Baha'u'llah is a Descendant of King David (17:16) But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. (17:17) And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.. (17:18) And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. (isa 11:1-5,11)
