Every Eye Shall See Him (8:2) The Book of Revelation speaks of the nature of Christ's Return: (8:3) Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him. (rev 1:7) (8:4) see To understand what this verse may mean, consider the following verses from Luke: (8:5) As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. (8:6) Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. (luk 3:4-6) (8:7) see Luke states that this prophecy of Isaiah (Esaias) was fulfilled by the coming of Jesus the Christ. The first verse, referring to John the Baptist, could be interpreted to have been fulfilled literally. However, the rest of the prophecy must be interpreted spiritually. (8:8) Was every valley filled and every mountain and hill brought low? Not literally. Were the crooked made straight and the rough ways made smooth? Not literally. (8:10) And, did all flesh see the salvation of God? Did every person alive see Jesus? Not literally. (8:11) In whatever way this prophecy is interpreted, the prophecy that every eye shall see him, relating to Christ's return, should also be interpreted. Thus, the fact that every eye has not literally seen Baha'u'llah cannot be raised as an objection to His claim. (8:12) And how can we reconcile every eye shall see him with the prophecies that Christ will come as a thief? (8:13) Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. (rev 3:3) (8:14) see Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth. (rev 16:15) (8:15) The prophecy states that every eye shall see him-it does not state that every one who sees Him will recognize Him or believe in Him. Many people saw Christ at His First Coming, yet failed to believe in Him. (8:16) Also, consider these Words of Jesus, speaking of His Return: (8:17) But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (8:18) For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, (8:19) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. (8:20) But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. (8:21) Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. (mat 24:36-44) (8:22) see Jesus refers to the fact that the people did not know until after the flood came that Noah was from God. When do we know that the thief has come? After he has come.
